Chem Matters
Dear Parent:
For more than 25 years, ChemMatters has been demystifying every day chemistry for high school students. Thousands of teachers are currently using the magazine in their classrooms and here is a sample what they are saying:
"In our state students need to take chemistry or physics to graduate and in my district they have to take both...ChemMatters articles that are consumer based /every day life situations are very useful to those teaching that type of class."
"First, I want to mention that I absolutely love the magazine. In every issue, there are many items I'm interested in reading and sharing. The reading is good chemistry but not so technical as to turn a non-scientist off."
ACS (The American Chemical Society) is encouraging high school students to explore chemistry. They are generously extending their reach to home-schooled students as well. They offer a club called ChemClub, which may be of interest to parents. There is no membership required, no fees for participation in the program. They send resources, monthly updates, contests - to support students' interests in chemistry. They have 260 clubs and the program is rapidly growing. Unfortunately, they only had one home-schooled club. They will be glad to send a sample of a free magazine to parents who may be interested in looking at them. Please see the attached letter for this offer. You may also view their ChemClub program at ACS CHEM CLUB
