Switched on Schoohouse makes the teacher's job easier by simplifying lesson planning and grading. In Switched on Schoolhouse, the lesson planning is completely done for you so that when you start school every day, the first thing you see is a list of lessons to be accomplished. On the Switched on Schoolhouse "home page" is a Bible verse of the day in either KJV or NASB (according to the teacher's settings.) The student will also see a historical figure who was born on that day, and a word and definition of the day. This gives everyone a starting point for the day. The student can then click on each lesson and it is placed in front of the student for study and completion. If the Switched on Schoolhouse software is set up on a network of computers, the teacher can sit at his or her desk and monitor the student's progress or answer questions as they work. We have ours set up this way in a classroom so that I can answer questions as the students have them, without having to walk from desk to desk. If a student needs further explanation, I will get up and write that on the board or work at the student's desk individually, but most questions can be answered from my computer in the Switched on Schoolhouse administrative panel. With the lesson planning laid out in a simple fashion from the teacher module, the teacher can see how much progress the student has made in the Switched on Schoolhouse curriculum overall, by the day, by the subject, etc. If a student gets behind, the lesson planning can be reset to allow the student to catch up.
